As you wake up this Saturday morning I hope you’re already planning for tomorrow — i.e. Sunday Brunch!
I’ve been in love with Sunday brunch since my days living in San Francisco and the many memorable brunch spots there. They intensified when I moved to Portland, Oregon – arguably the brunch capital of the US.
Since having kids, well, let’s just say we don’t go out for brunch much. In fact I don’t think we’ve gone out to a restaurant for brunch since the itty bitty’s were born. Ouch!
BUT, that doesn’t mean we don’t still “do brunch”.
We just do it differently now.
We host it!
It’s perfect actually.
We invite friends over, many of them who happen to also be parents, let the small people play while we enjoy the company of adults over good food and (of course) mimosas.
I used to think brunch was for post-collegial folks. A hipster thing. All about discovering the new cool restaurant to check out on a Sunday morning. I’ve since discovered the people who truly appreciate “the brunch” the most are parents!
It’s perfect really, you can hang out with your friends, over a great meal, great drinks, and it fits within the small people’s schedule. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
See my latest post about my favorite meal to host (brunch) over at , including our favorite brunch recipes. Spoiler – there’s maple bacon involved!
In the meantime, see how the kids helped us with our last brunch here -
The kids version, playtime with dad… and maple bacon!
The adult version… mimosas not included
